QFIU Organizes Specialized Training Programme in Cooperation with Dukhan Bank

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance staff capabilities, the Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU), in cooperation with Dukhan Bank, organized a specialized two-day training programme held on 29 June and 1 July 2026. The programme aimed to provide participants with practical exposure to banking operations and strengthen their understanding of key anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) processes within the banking sector.

The programme included a series of focused sessions covering core banking operations and AML/CFT practices, including Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, customer due diligence, customer risk assessment, and KYC documentation and record management. Participants also gained practical insights into transaction monitoring processes, suspicious transaction reporting procedures, fraud detection practices, and operational AML monitoring workflows.

In addition, the programme addressed the implementation of targeted financial sanctions, sanctions screening processes, and the role of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in reviewing suspicious transaction reports, handling related inquiries, and overseeing their submission to the Qatar Financial Information Unit. The training also featured practical case studies and interactive discussions on AML/CFT compliance and operational best practices.

This initiative reflects QFIU’s continued commitment to strengthening cooperation with the banking sector, promoting the exchange of practical expertise, and enhancing the professional capabilities of its staff in support of Qatar’s national framework for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
