Regulatory Mechanism Between the Qatar Financial Information Unit and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness of suspicious transaction reporting and strengthen cooperation and coordination among national stakeholders, the Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU) and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) signed a regulatory mechanism governing the registration of reporting entities supervised by the Ministry on the “Ekhtar” platform, which is dedicated to the electronic submission of suspicious transaction reports (STRs).

The mechanism establishes a clear framework for the roles and responsibilities of both QFIU and MoCI in relation to the registration and management of reporting entities on the platform, thereby supporting effective reporting processes and facilitating compliance with applicable requirements.

In addition, the mechanism outlines key operational procedures, including account registration and verification, the updating and amendment of reporting officer information, and the designation of contact points and coordination arrangements between the two parties.
