QFIU Head Visits TRACFIN on the Sidelines of the FATF Meetings in Paris

On the sidelines of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Plenary and Working Group Meetings held in Paris, France, from 15 to 19 June 2026, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Mubarak Al Thani, Head of the Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU), visited the French Financial Intelligence Unit, TRACFIN, where he met with Mr. Antoine Magnant, Director of TRACFIN.

This first meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and discuss ways to further develop cooperation between the two FIUs. Discussions focused on a number of topics of mutual interest, most notably the rapid developments in artificial intelligence and its applications in combating financial crime, as well as the opportunities offered by emerging technologies to strengthen analytical capabilities and enhance the effectiveness of financial intelligence units.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance operational cooperation and exchange expertise between their respective units, with a view to strengthening information exchange and coordination among financial intelligence units, as well as exploring opportunities to expand existing areas of cooperation in the future.

The visit forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation among financial intelligence units and reflects QFIU’s commitment to reinforcing its partnerships with counterpart FIUs, promoting knowledge sharing, and advancing international cooperation in the fields of anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, and counter-proliferation financing.
