QFIU participates in Working Group and Regional Group Meetings of the Egmont Group, held from 26 to 30 January 2026 in Tanzania

QFIU participated in the 26th Annual Working Group and Regional Group Meetings of the Egmont Group, held from 26 to 30 January 2026 in Arusha, Tanzania, bringing together representatives of FIUs from across the globe.

The meetings aimed to enhance international cooperation and the exchange of financial intelligence among FIUs, and to support global efforts to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and organized financial crimes, thereby reinforcing the integrity and efficiency of financial systems worldwide.

Discussions addressed a number of strategic and operational topics, including the development of mechanisms for international cooperation and information exchange, and the strengthening of the operational independence of FIUs in line with international standards. Participants also examined emerging risks and challenges, such as cross-border financial crimes, environmental crimes, and cyber risks. In addition, the meetings highlighted the role of technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence in supporting financial analysis, and reviewed capacity-building and training initiatives, including updates on the Egmont Centre of Excellence and Leadership (ECOFEL) certification program, as well as the organization of training activities related to the international exposure of FIUs.

Participants emphasized the importance of these meetings in strengthening coordination and unifying international efforts among FIUs, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of financial crime prevention and enforcement frameworks at both the regional and international levels.
