GCC Financial Information Units Committee Holds Its Second Meeting in Kuwait

The Financial Information Units (FIUs) Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its second meeting on Sunday, 22 June 2025, in the State of Kuwait, with the participation of representatives from the FIUs of member States, in addition to the GCC General Secretariat.

The meeting addressed a number of key topics, most notably the agenda of the upcoming Egmont Group plenary meeting for FIUs, scheduled to take place from 6 to 11 July 2025 in Luxembourg, as well as a review of the key contributions made by GCC member States to the Group’s activities.

The Committee also reviewed the outputs of its task forces, including the Team, which is currently studying a joint GCC initiative aimed at improving mechanisms for information exchange among the region’s FIUs. Another project under review focuses on identifying and analyzing common money laundering and terrorist financing trends and typologies in the Gulf region.

This meeting comes as a continuation of the ongoing technical cooperation among GCC FIUs and reflects the collective commitment of member states to strengthen joint efforts and enhance capacity in addressing financial crimes through sustained collaboration and knowledge exchange.
