The six-day meetings brought together senior officials from MENAFATF member states, as well as observer countries, regional bodies, and international organizations engaged in combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the financing of proliferation. The meetings served as a platform to strengthen and unify regional and international efforts while safeguarding the region’s economic systems from the risks posed by these crimes.

In addition to the working groups meetings, QFIU delegation took part in several key events, including the FIUs Forum and the Mutual Evaluation Team Meeting. On the sidelines of the Plenary, Qatar chaired the Gulf Financial Intelligence Units Committee in its role as Chair for 2024.

To mark the 20th anniversary of MENAFATF’s establishment, a special conference was held alongside the main event, focusing on the latest developments in combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and proliferation.

These meetings represent a pivotal opportunity to reinforce and unify international efforts, spearheaded by MENAFATF, to counter financial crimes and protect the global economic, political, and social systems from associated threats.
