A delegation from Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU), led by HE Sheikh Ahmed Al Thani, visited the Indian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) on November 4-5, 2024, during which both sides exchanged expertise in AML/CFT field and tackled topics of mutual interest, including the enhancement of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), strategic analysis, and virtual digital assets. The Qatari delegation explored FIU-IND’s advanced information technology systems, which proved its effectiveness in identifying suspects, detecting and monitoring suspicious activities, and its strategic importance in bolstering the capabilities of FIUs to combat financial crimes.
This visit reaffirmed the strong relationship between the two units, built over years of cooperation, including their joint four-year tenure as co-chairs of the Asia Group in 2010. This lasting partnership reflects a shared and unwavering commitment to combating money laundering and terrorist financing threats, particularly as active members of the Egmont Group.
