On the occasion of the formation of the GCC Financial Information Units Committee, Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU), which chairs this Committee for 2024, hosted the 1st meeting of the Committee on Sunday, 12 May 2024 in Doha. The formation of the GCC FIUs Committee came after joint efforts and desire among the FIUs to integrate and link information and to promote coordination.

It is worth mentioning that the Committee will hold its annual meeting under the periodic chairmanship of the Gulf FIUs to follow up on issues of common interest and the latest developments at various levels.
During this meeting, which is held for the first time at the regional level, a number of strategic topics were discussed and the objectives and terms of reference of the Commission were adopted.
Based on these objectives, Qatar Financial Information Unit, put forward its main objectives throughout its chairmanship, a project that brings together Gulf FIUs on the exchange of patterns and trends, technical and regulatory assistance, as well as the international strategic cooperation project, which represents an important step to enhance joint cooperation through the coordination mechanism between Gulf FIUs in the exchange of information, in addition to enhancing transparency and comprehensive understanding of the financial situation, making strategic decisions with full confidence, and preparing a timetable to follow up on these plans. These proposed projects were well received by the Heads of GCC FIUs, who took relevant decisions that contribute to achieving the desired and common goals.
