A delegation from QFIU participated in the Egmont Group Plenary meeting that took place from June 2 to 7, 2024, in Paris, France, in addition to the HoFIUs meeting, the Working Groups meetings, the MENA regional meeting, and different training workshops.
The Plenary tackled many topics of importance, namely the hosting of the Egmont Center of FIU Excellence and Leadership (ECOFEL) by the State of Qatar, whereas the latest updates and discussions with ECOFEL related to the hosting agreement and the current challenges were highlighted. On this occasion, MENA FIUs expressed their support for the success of the project and the completion of the relevant procedures as soon as possible.
During the HoFIUs meeting, updates on the Egmont Secure Web (ESW) were reviewed, in addition to the finalization of several selection procedures for EG leadership roles, where a number of WG Chairs and Vice Chairs were selected, in addition to a number of regional representatives for different Regional Groups.
The Qatari delegation also participated in different Working Groups meetings, such as the Technical Assistance and Training Working Group (TATWG), the Information Exchange Working Group (IEWG), and the Membership, Support and Compliance Working Group (MSCWG), in addition to meetings related to information technology.
