The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) opened the 15th edition of the MENA Regulatory Summit, which is held under the patronage of Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU), on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Sheraton Hotel, Doha. The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Bandar Bin Mohamed Al Thani, the Governor of Qatar Central Bank, and His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed Bin Eid Al Thani, Head of Qatar Financial Information Unit(QFIU), in addition to prominent leaders, policymakers, experts, international and national VIPs.
The summit, which is of paramount importance, as it aims at bringing together thought leaders, experts in financial crimes, professionals from various fields, and specialists in the field of risk and compliance from the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond, tackled many topics and recent challenges facing our societies, namely trade-based financial crime in the MENA region, regulatory vigilance around greenwashing, strengthening asset recovery in MENA, the impact of Fintech on fighting financial crime, and fast-tracking capabilities to counter cyber-enabled crime.
